To accept Amex payments with our merchant accounts
you must apply to American Express
direct for the ability to do so.
Please be aware that Amex will add an extra
1.6% to all American Express internet transaction charges.
This will then bring our total transaction charges to:
Merchant Account + Gateway Solution 1 = 4.59%
(normally 2.99%)
Merchant Account + Gateway Solution 2 = 4.9% (normally
3.3%)
High-Risk Merchant Account + Gateway = 6% (normally
4.4%)
To apply to accept Amex please call American Express
on 0800 33 99 11 between the hours of 9am and 5pm, Monday
to Friday. Please have the following information available:
- The name, home address
and date of birth of the owner or authorised signatory
of your business
- If more than 4 benefical owners
you will need to supply a board of resolution letter
- The name of your
bank
- The bank account number
where you would like American Express to deposit your
funds
- The bank sort code for
this account
- If you currently accept plastic
card transactions, please provide electronic terminal
details, including the name of the terminal provider,
polling bureau, type of terminal, make and model and
Visa / MasterCard merchant number
The application takes 7 - 10 business days and costs
£150.00 to assess the application and generate
(with a bit of luck) an ID number! You will then receive
all relevant documentation via the post.
