Web design, hosting, shopping
cart, database population and PayPal integration
Industry: Photography
Date Completed: May 2007
Web address: www.ecoprints.co.uk
Client Introduction...
Since opening its virtual doors, ecoprints has helped
customers decorate their living and work areas all over
the globe. Their unique selection of images and canvases
are all taken by their very own in-house photographers
and are not on sale anywhere else
Project Overview...
We were approached to develop an ecommerce solution
allowing EcoPrints to sell their catalogue of prints,
pictures and posters. The site needed to be user friendly
as well as easy to maintain through a Content Management
System (CMS) system, allowing the administrators of
EcoPrints to fully manage their website through a backoffice
facility. On top of this, Web Merchant Services had
to come up with a complete design
The Brief...
- Clean, crisp design reflecting
the quality of the pictures and prints
- Allow up to 4 images per picture
and allow product to have many variations
- Ease of use for customers
to add items to the basket
- Customer registration process
to flow and also be informative
- Search facility to work by
product name, SKU and description
- Information should be accurate
and up to date
- Fully manageable in-house
after initial set up by developer
- Site should work on all browsers
- Detailed site visitor statistics
- Database population of initial
400 products
Payment System...
After some initial discussions we advised that, to
begin with, they integrated with PayPal. We thought
this the best course of action due the fact they were
unsure of the initial amount of sales, and wanted to
save as much money as possible for the actual build
of the shopping cart. As with all our shopping carts,
we are able to quickly and efficiently integrate them
to one of our own merchant accounts, without any type
rebuild, if they so wish
What they said...
"Well done guys! You managed to get an idea, with
no real structure, and turn it into a successful online
business. No matter what crazy ideas I have in the future,
you will be my first port of call"
Technology and Hosting...
Shopping Cart: eCommerce Builder v2.0
Client Side: HTML, DHTML, JavaScript
Server Side: C#, XML
Database: SQL Server 2003
Platform/OS: IIS 6, Windows Server 2003
The process...
When you contact us regarding development work we will
discuss your requirements with you, finding out what
you would like and what you actually need. Once the
initial concept is laid out we will email you with the
specification and cost of the project. We will then
advise on what to do next, what merchant account to
go for (if applicable) and which information we need
from you. If you would like us to deal with any third
parties, such as printers, accountancy software companies
etc. we will contact them direct. We find this easier
for all concerned as it saves, not only time, but also
any misunderstandings.
Once we have the go ahead from yourselves we will start
to put a design together. We host this on a staging
area so that you can see how it will look like once
live on your domain (web address). Once the design is
agreed, we then start to build the rest of the website
Timescales...
You will be notified at the beginning with estimated
timescales.
Not sure what type of website is best for you?
For a no obligation quote or
for an informal chat, give
us a ring and someone will be more than happy to talk
with you and go through all the options. We promise
we won't talk gobbledygook either!
