Industry: Film Making
Date Completed: September 2007
Web address: www.freshfishing.co.uk
Client Introduction...
This new-style DVD for anglers by award winning TV
natural history film-maker Moira Mann features one
of the UK's top anglers, Bryan Jarrett. Bryan fishes
for carp on a lake in the Cotswolds, while underwater
cameraman John McIntyre filmed him from the carp's
point of view
Project Overview...
Swim Films, creators of the Fresh Fishing DVD, came
to us because they had been let down by their previous
web developer. Even though they liked the design of
the site, excluding one or two things, they found
the overall functionality to be well below par. They
wanted to be able to update virtually all aspects
of the website using a Content Management System (CMS)
system, and not be reliant on us for future content
updates.
As well as the content, they also wanted the basket
and the whole shopping experience to be easier and
more informative. They felt that they were losing
many potential customers due the the fact the basket
was badly designed and the navigation hard to follow
The Brief...
- Create new images based
around original flash design
- Ease of use for customers
to add items to the basket
- Allow possibility of more
products to be added
- Customer registration process
to flow and also be informative
- Account Login area allowing
for discounts and marketing
- Information should be accurate
and up to date
- Fully manageable in-house
after initial set up by developer
- Site should work on all
browsers
- Detailed site visitor statistics
- Database population of initial
product
Payment System...
Optimal Account and Virtual Terminal
What they said...
"If only we had come to you originally. Even
though you took over this project and, through no
fault of your own, the specification kept growing,
you have made a bad situation much more bearable.
Thank you for your support and understanding. I have
already had 5 orders in the first 24 hours compared
to 3 in 2 months with the original site"
Technology and Hosting...
Shopping Cart: eCommerce Builder v1.5
Client Side: HTML, DHTML, JavaScript
Server Side: C#, XML
Database: Access 2003
Platform/OS: IIS 6, Windows Server 2003
The process...
When you contact us regarding development work we
will discuss your requirements with you, finding out
what you would like and what you actually need. Once
the initial concept is laid out we will email you
with the specification and cost of the project. We
will then advise on what to do next, what merchant
account to go for (if applicable) and which information
we need from you. If you would like us to deal with
any third parties, such as printers, accountancy software
companies etc. we will contact them direct. We find
this easier for all concerned as it saves, not only
time, but also any misunderstandings.
Once we have the go ahead from yourselves we will
start to put a design together. We host this on a
staging area so that you can see how it will look
like once live on your domain (web address). Once
the design is agreed, we then start to build the rest
of the website
Timescales...
You will be notified at the beginning with estimated
timescales.
Not sure what type of website is best for
you?
For a no obligation quote or for an informal chat,
give us a ring and someone will be more than happy
to talk with you and go through all the options. We
promise we won't talk gobbledygook either!
